The K's have been busy learning their sight words. The students have been busy playing games and reading rebus sentences for sight word list #5.

This week we learned about the number 9 and number 10. The students practiced finding the hidden number 9 and played around the world to practice number identification. For number 10 the students went outside on a 10 scavenger hunt. The found 10 leaves, 10 rocks, etc! Friday we wrapped up our number unit with number stations. We practiced coloring by number, sequencing 1-10, counting the pepperonis on the pizza, feed the dog some bones and building block numbers.

We started a new author study this week, Jackie Urbanovic. We read "Duck at the Door" and drew pictures of what we would do if a duck knocked on our door! We also filled in our author study chart!
Science:
This week we practiced using thermometers! The students used their thermometer to check the temperature of four different types of water. They recorded their answer in their science notebook. Friday we wrapped up our weather unit by creating collages of our favorite types of weather. The students drew and cut and pasted different things they could do in their favorite type of weather.
Kidwriting:
In kidwriting we reviewed what a sentence is and practiced making sentences about pictures. The students practiced using sight words in their sentences.
Social Studies:
We wrapped up our feelings unit by making a feelings poster. Students picked an emotion and drew a face to represent that emotion. They drew what made them feel that way and what they can do to feel better. On Wednesday we started to learn about the pilgrims and Indians. We listened to a story and retold it with cut outs! Students also made pilgrim stick puppets.
Next Week:
