It was another busy week in kindergarten! The kindergartners were busy learning, growing and playing!
Language Arts:
We talked about how to make words and sentences. We read sentences and words and drew pictures to match.
Math;
We continued working on numbers 50-60 this week. Students went fishing for numbers, hopped on a giant number line and practiced writing these numbers.
Literacy:
We finished our biography unit this week. We read "One Giant Leap: The Biography of Neil Armstrong" and listed what we want to be when we grow up. Students then began working on their own biographies. We spent most of the week completing the biographies and presented them to the class on Friday!
Science:
We used our sense of sight to play color and shape I Spy. We also played "What's Missing?" The students have to guess what object was missing from a tray of toys. Thursday we explored our sense of touch by feeling the objects students brought from home. We made a list of descriptive words and learned that they were all texture words. The students then made a texture hand by gluing five different textures onto a cut out hand.
Social Studies:
Students read "Map on my Lap" and created a map of our classroom.
Gym:
We continued our unit on hockey this week by looking at real hockey equipment. Students also took turns pushing a puck with a hockey stick.
Art:
We learned about artist Paul Cezanne and created our own still life.
Next Week:
Thursday, February 5th - Soccer Shots, WEAR SNEAKERS!!!
