The holidays are almost here and our kindergartners are excited!! This week the Popcorn Hat Players visited and presented A Christmas Carol. The children laughed and sang along with the play!
Language Arts:
We have been working on sight word list #7 and reading the rebus sentences. The students are also learning how to do crossword puzzles! Letter X was our letter focus this week. Students completed stations and read "Max the Fox."
Math:
We are continuing our study of two digit numbers. We are continuing writing and identifying two digit numbers. For #13 we identified ornaments, wrote missing numbers, and practiced number 13 on a tens frame.
Literacy:
This week we read "Snowmen at Christmas" and listed what we think snowmen do at night. The students also created pictures to illustrate the snowmen at night. We also read "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell" and practiced retelling the story with props and an Old Lady!
Science:
We reviewed the characteristics of reptiles and talked about reptiles that are extinct and living. Students completed a sorting activity in their science notebooks. We also completed a dinosaur book. The teacher read the words and students illustrated the pages. We also had the opportunity to look at a real turtle shell and read "Miles and Miles of Reptiles."
Social Studies:
We reviewed where Germany is and kindness. We also discussed taking turns and why it is important. Students talked about their family Christmas traditions and sang "O, Christmas Tree." They also took turns playing a Christmas matching game.
Kidwriting:
Students are working on their letters to Santa. Next week they will be delivering them to the post office!
Music:
We sang "Jingle Bells," "Joy to the World," and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." They made a bell craft to take home.
Gym:
Students played North Pole Adventure, had Santa's sled races and feeding the reindeer scooter game.
