We were very busy in kindergarten last week! The students were busy reviewing end of the year concepts and teachers were busy getting end of the year reports and paperwork together!
Language Arts:
The students were reviewing the end of the year sight word lists and reading sight words lists from the whole year!
Math:
The students were busy creating objects to sell at their Sweets and Treats shop. On Wednesday the class set up shop in the lobby to sell their goods. The students got practice taking the money from customers and counting out change. They were very excited to see how much they sold! On Friday the students counted up their earnings and it came to $158. The class will split this total in thirds: 1/3 to spend on something for the class, 1/3 to share with someone less fortunate and 1/3 to take home and put in their piggy banks! We had lots of ideas of what to spend our class 1/3 on!!!
Literacy:
Students made stick puppets of Max and a Wild Thing from "Where the Wild Things Are" and then worked with a partner to retell the story. On Friday we read "The Gruffalo Tree" and students created their own version of a gruffalo. We reviewed the title, author, illustrator, characters and setting along with all the genres of books we've read this year!
Science:
We started learning about magnets. We read "What Can Magnets Do" and learned that magnets can attract and repel. After reading students took a magnet to find magnetic objects in our classroom! They were surprised to discover what was magnetic and what wasn't! The divider separating the classroom was the biggest surprise! We charted our findings!
Kidwriting:
The students finished their books and shared them with their peers!
Music:
Students practiced their musical performance for our parent celebration!!
Reminders:
