We had a handful of parents who were able to come in and talk to the kindergarten students about their careers. Mrs. Melissa, Curtis's mom, came in and talked to the students about the Navy and her job working with submarines. She showed the students a battery from a submarine and described what she does at her job. She also shared some special coins she was awarded for her work with the Navy.
Mr. Frank, Athena's dad, also talked about his job at the Navy. He works in a different department and showed the students a poster of all the different ships the Navy produces and uses. He told the students what happens on a Naval base and how they help protect civilians.
Mr. Rob, Lydia's dad, talked the students about building bridges. He brought gummy fish and tooth picks and the students got to build their very own bridge. They also got to enjoy the gummy fish treat at the end of their hard work :)
Mr. Brian, Nick's dad, came and talked to the students about his job as a state policeman. The students were very excited to see his uniform and learn about all the things he carries with him. Officer Henneman talked to the students about stranger safety and how to stay safe. He also brought a police SUV and the students were able to sit inside and talk on the loud speaker! He flashed the lights and sirens too!
Dr. Graham, Ms. Lisa's friend, came and talked to the students about being a veterinarian. She brought a special friend, Diva, a black lab who is a service dog in training. Diva was a huge hit and gave lots of kisses! Dr. Graham showed the students what she wears during surgeries and exams of cats and dogs.
