It was another busy but fun week in kindergarten! We ended the week with a play day and enjoyed lots of outside time! This week we focused on sight words and number identification! The kindergarteners are very excited to show off their reading skills! Next week is a very busy week!! At the bottom of this post is a list of all the exciting activities going on!
Language Arts:
Students worked on sight word list #1 this week. They read rebus sentences and played sight word tic-tac-toe!
Math:
The students talked about where they see numbers and discovered that numbers are EVERYWHERE! They focused on the numbers one and zero and practiced counting and writing these numbers.
Literacy:
We continued our Margie Palatini author study and read "Bad Boys." We talked about the events in the beginning, middle and end of the story and the students practiced drawing theses important parts of the story. We also listened to "Bad Boys Get Cookie" and talked about ways we would catch the run away cookie. The kinders drew pictures of their ways to catch cookie and shared them with the class.
Social Studies:
This week we talked about what we do when we are angry. We read about Tucker Turtle and practiced the steps Tucker takes to calm down when we are angry. The students made a Tucker Turtle to take home and share.
Character Education:
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. We talked about what a bully is and how they make us feel. The students listened to "Llama Llama and the Bully Goat" and we identified the way Llama was feeling. After the story we discussed what to do if someone is not being nice to us.
