Can you believe Thanksgiving is in two weeks!! Time is flying! This week we enjoyed Cissy and the Man, a silly juggling clown. We also enjoyed a half day of school on Thursday and extra outside time in the afternoon!
Language Arts:
The K's have been busy making and reading words this week! They are focusing on sight word #6 and the -at family. Students also listened to "Stone Soup" and made their own sight word stone soup.
Math:
We began a unit on more and less. We used number munchers to munch numbers on the number line and learned a new game called "Top It." We played with a partner and we can play at home! Students also identified more and less with different toys in our classroom.
Literacy:
We read "Duck Soup" and played a review game to reinforce the different parts of the book. Students rolled a dice and had to name - title, author, illustrator, characters, setting and problem. We also read "Duck and Cover" and colored pictures of where we would hide an alligator in our home!
Kidwriting:
We read and sorted sentences and non-sentences. Students also picked an animal to write a sentence about.
Social Studies:
We talked about Veteran's Day and its importance. We also read "The Military ABC's" and made cards for veterans. Students painted American flags.
Character Ed:
We talked about manners and read "It's a Spoon Not a Shovel" and reviewed good manners. We also learned "The Manners Song." Ask you child if they can sign it for you :)
Music:
Our word in music this week was beat. We talked about how you can feel and hear the beat. We tapped sticks to the beat and jumped to the beat!
Gym:
The students participated in Thanksgiving themed games. They played stuff the turkey and the turkey and the farmer.
