It's been another busy week in kindergarten. Students were enjoying sharing their 100th day of school projects and talking about their Valentines!
Language Arts:
Students participated in learning stations in language arts including; zinga, letter stamps, sight word sentences and upper/lowercase letter puzzles.
Math:
Students worked on reinforcement of numbers 80-90 this week. They played count and sit, number bingo and a number word search. Students also practiced counting in groups of tens and ones and writing the number. We've also been working on sequencing the days of the week.
Literacy:
We read "The Three Little Pigs" and listed the characteristics of all the characters. Wednesday we read "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs" and learned that it was told by the wolf. We made a new character chart and compared the pigs and wolf in both stories.
Science:
We looked at a diagram of a tongue and learned that different sections of the tongue taste different foods. We tasted foods that were bitter, sour, sweet, and salty. Bitter cocoa was our least favorite and sweet skittles were the favorite. Wednesday we used our five senses to determine which cup was holding sugar and which was holding salt. We used our sense of hearing, seeing, smelling and touching and made a prediction. Then students used their sense of taste to find out the answer!
Social Studies:
Students shared their transportation pictures. We also created a list things we know and things we want to know about people around the world.
Kidwriting/Music:
We combined kidwriting and music this week. Students learned about instruments in the string family of instruments and how they make noise. Then they wrote a sentence to describe a string instrument.
