What a snowy week we've had! There were two delays, an early dismissal and a closing! We're definitely ready for warmer sunnier weather!
Language Arts:
Students have been working on Dr. Seuss rhyming activities and coloring in Dr. Seuss activity books! They're learning that Dr. Seuss makes lots of silly rhyming words!
Math:
Students have been focusing on skip counting by 5 this week. They counted their hands, feet and many other objects by five. They also learned how to use tally marks to quickly count a lot of an item! Friday they worked on skip counting stations by building 5's towers, counting hands by 5 and played a counting game!
Literacy:
We read Dr. Seuss this week in honor of his birthday! Students listened to "The Cat in the Hat Came Back" and created and designed their own Cat in the Hat hats! We also read "And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street" and created our own class book!
Science:
We learned about the liver this week and how it helps absorb vitamins and minerals and also how it helps our blood when we get a cut or scratch. We also practiced using bandaids as another way to help cuts and scratches!
Social Studies:
Students created authentic Mexican and Indian clothing. They decorated the cloth and then wore their creations!
Kidwriting:
Students are working on writing sentences and using the correct spacing and periods. They wrote sentences about fish and used correct spacing and periods!
Junior Achievement:
Miss Tammy visited us Wednesday afternoon and talked to the students about saving money. They practiced identifying different coins and talked about how to save money. Students also drew a picture or something they want to save their money for!
