It's been quite a busy week in kindergarten! Everyone is busy preparing their projects for the art show, learning how to add, and smiling pretty for their pictures! Everyone looked wonderful in their graduation gowns for picture day and we even took a silly group picture. We can't wait to see it!
Language Arts:
Students were busy learning about rhyming words this week. They listened to stories and then identified the rhyming words they heard.
Math:
This week the students started learning how to add!!! They were very excited to learn about the addition symbol and equal symbol. They have been busy practicing their addition skills and love to share this new knowledge!
Literacy:
We began a unit on poetry this week. We started by reading "I Like." The students loved reading this poem and they wrote their own "I Like" poems. We also read "Scranimals" and students made their own scranimal.
Science:
We are continuing to monitor our bread/handwashing experiment. Nothing has happened yet! We also learned about where our food comes from and read "Up, Down and Around" to learn where vegetables grow. We made posters drawing vegetables that grow above ground, under ground and around on vines.
Social Studies:
Students are learning about community helpers and what they can do for us! They made community helper kites and colored a picture of a community helper in action!
Kidwriting:
Students are busy preparing the original dinosaur story they wrote for the art show.
Gym:
We wrapped up our unit on basketball by playing a real game of basketball. Students put their dribbling, shooting and teamwork skills to test!
Reminders!
If you haven't already, please return your pink piggy bank. The class is hoping to raise enough money to buy a pig for a less fortunate family.
The Art Show is Friday, April 17th from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. The students have been very busy preparing pieces for the show. Tickets are available in the office for $1. Everyone needs a ticket to enter the show. We hope to see you all there!!
