Thank you to everyone who came to the Kindergarten Celebration! It was great to see the kids having so much fun and enjoying the time with their peers! All week long the kids were talking about how excited they were for the party! Along with party excitement there was a lot of learning going on and preparation for the end of the school year.
Language Arts:
Students were working on their sight words and practicing writing and reading. They used magnetic letters, magic erase boards and sight word sheets to practice. They were also assessed on their sight words!
Math:
Students started the week learning about dimes and counting by 10's. They did coin rubbings and a dime search! They even chose a job and collected pay, by dimes, for their jobs! They ended the week learning about quarters and who is on the front and what is on the back. They talked about the value of 1, 2, 3 and 4 quarters and completed a worksheet to reinforce this concept!
Literacy:
Students worked on typing their very own poem. They met with Ms. Amy to revise their rough draft and then typed their poem. They got to pick their font and how they wanted it to look on the paper. On Wednesday the students illustrated their poems. We talked about how illustrations needed to match the words on our poems. Friday we had a poetry reading and students read their poems to the class!
Science:
We went outside on a walk to look for ramps in nature. The students found some awesome ramps and used a digital camera to take a picture. They also drew the ramps they found in their science notebooks.
Kidwriting:
The students have been working on completing their own original stories.
Music:
Students were practicing their musical performance for our parent day celebration.
Gym:
The students went outside and practiced catching and hitting during a game of baseball.
REMINDERS!
Please check the parent board for important information including a sign-up sheet for end of the year conferences!
